Today we visited Nash Point Lighthouse. We climbed to the top and saw the light which warns ships of the rocks and sandbanks in the sea.
We found out that all the rooms are round and there is a spiral staircase going right to the top. Mr Thomas told us about a ship wreck in 1831. The lighthouses were built in 1832 so that there wouldn’t be another disaster.
One lighthouse was abandoned in 1925 but the second taller one is still a working lighthouse so we could see the light rotating.
Mr Thomas set off the fog horn for us. It was very loud and made some of us jump!
